Bleantar Oban - Meaning somewhat
uncertain. The first part of the name may be bleanta - lions (also
narrow low tongues of land), with an s added after the manner
of an English plural, while the second word appears to be obar
- dun of fawn colour. Possible however bleantar is singular and
the abstract from blean. Muine na Cince is, according to one authority,
another name for place of for a sub-division of it. Area (in two
divisions), 1,622 acres.
